Chad on Terrible Happy Talks
In this episode, Chad Ford shares his full journey, from growing up in Sydney and discovering skateboarding at a young age, to becoming a sponsored skater and helping shape the early skatepark landscape in Australia.
We dive into Chad’s transition from skating to designing some of Sydney’s first proper skateparks, and how that passion evolved into a career. From there, he takes us behind the scenes of building some of the world’s most iconic skateboarding events, including Bowlarama and Bowlzilla.
Chad's story is one of risk, creativity, and building something from the ground up, along with the harsh realities that go with it. His story spans skate culture, event production, and even the 90's club and rave scene in Sydney.
Enjoy,
Shan

Mount Isa Skate Park looks like such a solid spot! The mix of rails, hips, spines, and banks really makes it a place where both beginners and experienced skaters can have fun. It’s always awesome to see communities keeping skate culture alive with well-designed parks like this. As someone who also enjoys collecting fingerboard decks , I can definitely appreciate how these real-life setups inspire creativity both on and off the board.

It's destroyed.. presumably in a big storm as the quarter has literally broken off and washed downstream. It would be nice to remake it
